When to go to the Agafay, and what to wear

Two decisions make or break an Agafay day: which hours you go, and what you have on.

Season by season

Spring (March–May) is the best of it: warm days, a little green, comfortable evenings. Autumn (September–November) runs it close. Summer is hot and exposed — go early or late, or pick a pool. Winter days are clear and pleasant; the mornings and nights are genuinely cold.

The right hours

The plateau looks its best in the first and last hour of daylight, and that is also when it is coolest. Anything mechanical is more fun early; anything social is better at dusk.

What to wear and bring

Closed shoes, always. Clothes you do not mind getting dusty if you are riding. Sunglasses, hat, sun cream. One warm layer, even in summer, because the evening drop is severe. A scarf is worth having on a quad. Swimwear if a pool is involved, and a head torch if you are staying the night.
