What Agafay is
A stone desert roughly 30 km south-west of Marrakech: grey and ochre hills, no sand dunes, camps and quad tracks. It is a popular half-day destination in its own right.
The confusion with Atlas flying
Some Agafay-branded packages actually launch from foothill sites elsewhere, with an Agafay desert visit attached. That may be a perfectly good day out — but it is not the same thing as flying over Agafay, and you should know which you are buying.
What to verify before booking
