The decision to fly is made on the morning
Wind speed at the surface and aloft, visibility and the forecast for the landing window all decide whether a launch happens. A cancelled flight is a functioning safety process, not a failure of service.
Before you board
Expect the crew to inspect the envelope, burners, fuel connections and instruments during inflation, and expect a passenger briefing covering boarding, in-flight position and the landing brace position.
During the flight
You stay inside the basket, keep hold of nothing loose, and follow the pilot's instructions for the landing. That is the whole of your responsibility.
What to ask any operator
- • Who is the pilot and what licence do they hold?
- • What insurance is in place for passengers?
- • How many passengers are in the basket?
- • What are the wind limits for cancelling?
What we will not claim
We do not publish pilot licence numbers, insurance details or safety-record claims until they are confirmed in writing by the operator. Those items are currently listed as awaiting confirmation on our safety page.
