When the call is made
Usually the evening before for an obvious weather system, and otherwise at the field at dawn once the pilot has assessed the actual surface wind. Occasionally the balloon inflates and the flight is still stood down; that judgement belongs to the pilot.
Your options after a cancellation
- • Fly on a later morning during your stay — the best outcome where possible
- • Move to an alternative experience such as a tandem paragliding flight
- • Refund, according to the operator's confirmed terms
How to protect your trip
Book the balloon for the first available morning of your stay, not the last. Keep a second morning free. Avoid scheduling a flight for the morning of your outbound flight home.
